The county
has twice as many manufacturing jobs per capita compared to
the state average , making it one of the top counties in Ohio
manufacturing concentration. Nearly one out of every four persons
in the county has a manufacturing job. The industrial
base is closely link to the automotive industry and plastics
industry with companies such as Powers and Sons, Plastech, Winzeler
Stamping, and Kamco. The county is also the home of Ohio Art,
maker of the famous Etch-a-Sketch, and Spangler Candy Company,
maker of the Dum-Dum sucker.
The county
still has a strong agricultural base, and this remains a large
segment of the local economy.
